friday adventures!

hello! hope you all had a good weekend! we sure did! it was a busy one!!

so i have been waiting since forever (ok, not that long but long enough) for IKEA to come to Portland! and it FINALLY IS HERE!!! YAY! the grand opening was on the 25th & i didn't go near it! why? well, everyone else and their mom was waiting right along with me! ha! it was crazy crowded. no thanks. so i patiently waited....til friday the 27th! HAHAHA!!! =) we loaded up and drove a whole 15 mins to get there! thats MUCH better than the regular 3 hours it would take us to get to Renton, WA. (where the next closest one is) and like the dork that i am, i brought my camera and documented it to share with you all!! heehee....rj kept saying, "oh, kristy that is sooo dorky." whatever.

there were a ton of police out & about. at least one car w/ two inside on every corner & a couple of them on bikes! sheesh! i guess they were to help when traffic got out of hand....at ikea..that seems crazy to me!

so inside was pretty cool. its two stories. & the kids area is awesome! the cops needed to be in there directing foot traffic! obviously people were ikea newbies & didn't know that there is ONE way around the store! so annoying. hello don't you see the arrows! so many were going the wrong way! argh!! the most crowded part was the restaurant area. hello Swedish meatballs! everyone was in line! so while we waited for rj to get our food carter & i had the best seat in the house....next to the giant windows.....we got to see big airplanes coming in for landing!!!! carter thought that was awesome! (of course every time one flew over i didn't have the camera out! argh)

our shopping cart. not bad.....mainly stuff for carter, of course! we got him an easel, paper, a carpet that has roads on it to drive cars around & some pic frames for me!

later on in the day we met some friends, the hubbards, for a walk. which turned out to be 6 miles round trip around lacamas lake! whew! it was looooonnnng!

luckily at the end of the trail was a playground for the kiddos to run around before the 3 mile trip back!

we had a blast on friday. even though i woke up saturday morning sore from the walk!! haha! i am so out of shape.

coloring & cookies.

hey all. sorry haven't been bloggin much lately....i've been working really hard on the hundreds of photos that we took at Debs' wedding!!! but i just had to share some of these photos!!!

carter is eating lunch here & i just love how he is sitting....like oh-humm.....

here he is coloring & sitting at the table like a big boy. i have a video of him coloring & its quite funny but photobucket is being dumb for the moment!
so rj baked me the most delicious cookies! yes these are the same kind he made before!!! yay! they are so good! i have to stop at eating only 2 per day!!! HAHAHA!!

4 years.

yesterday (7.18) rj & i celebrated our 4th anniversary! my how time flys by! its crazy! fast forward 4 yrs later & our little family has grown in to 3! now we have a wonderfully vibrant son to chase around!!! i feel so blessed. i have a wonderful husband & son!

it wasn't too exciting of a day....it was raining which was nice for change! ha! we got a/c installed!!! YAY!! for those of you who don't know, we didn't before and our house gets baked by the sun ALL DAY LONG! so it really heats up & when you have a lil one who gets cranky b/c he's too hot...it makes the momma cranky too! not a good combo! so we finally had it installed yay! & of course it was raining! go figure.

then we went grocery shopping....woohoo. but we did however, pick up these juicy pinwheeled steaks from Wild Oats. they are wrapped around spinach, cheese & garlic! so good! then we also had a yummy green salad, hawaiian sweet roll & fries....inspired by rj's recent trip to europe!

we even drank some yummy wine that rj brought back for me! it was a Gewurztraminer, late harvest. SO GOOD!!! =)

all in all it was a good day. i am so thankful to have spent it with the two loves in my life! (no, not the a/c & the wine! hahaha!!! my boys!) we take turns planning our anniversary each year. it makes it fun & something to really look forward to. so this year its rj's turn. so we'll see what he has in store for me! yay!

carter was a good lil helper over the weekend! helping out papi & lola on their outside projects (they are putting in a rock bubbler out front of their house). he loves being outside too & he even had his own lil tools! =)

wedding!

last friday rj & i photographed one of my good friends, debs & traver's wedding! we had a blast! she was gorgeous & we got a TON of excellent pics! check out the rest i posted on my photog blog

parade & fireworks!

we had a good 4th this year. except that it was sooooooooooooooo HOT!!!! our friends betsy & bryan & their kiddos came out to watch the parade with us. jake (old high school amigo) & his girlfriend came out too! we set up parade watching camp at the end of my parents driveway & parked ourselves under the pop up shade, ready for it to start. carter had a good time this year because he is super into trucks, tractors & pretty much anything that goes! the parade didn't disappoint! when the fire trucks rolled up he pointed & shouted "it is!!!!" HAHA! then when an old steam tractor came by & blew its whistle, i thought he was going to jump off my lap! it startled him so bad!!!! even though it was so hot, the kids had a good time scooping a load of candy. enough to put out at halloween!! heehee....

there was a fun festival going on up at the school afterwards so we walked up there for a bit. all the tractors from the parade were all lined up on the football field! carter was in tractor heaven!!!! he LOVED looking at all of them!

we definitely had a good 4th this year. i know i enjoyed it more seeing it through carter's eyes. i grew up watching or being in the corbett parade every year. so it was extra special for me to see my son get all excited about it this year! =)

trucks.

trucks are one of carter's favorite things. airplanes, & tractors are also high up on that list! he loves dump trucks, garbage trucks, & fire engines! he even makes noises for each one. the other day he was so quiet so i tip-toed over to see what he was doing & came upon this! i just love it. all his trucks are lined up & ready to go!
