food time!

Sunday night was the first time K had her first bite of rice cereal! For some time now she has been tracking the food going past her to our mouths & smacking her lips so we thought she'd like to try some of her own! At first she didn't know what to think of it & most of it ended up trailing down the front of her. But then she figured out that she needed to swallow it & then I couldn't get the spoon fast enough to her mouth! She'd let out this growl, like "gimme more NOW!!!!!!"
I think we got a foodie on our hands! =)

look at her toes all curled up!
um, what the heck is this stuff?!
uh....not too sure about this stuff mom!
Last night she inhaled a tablespoon of the cereal & was so ticked when it was all done! hahaha!
chow hound! =)

construction, hula & muffins

Since we've been back from our vaca I've been soooo not ready to get back in the swing of the norm. ugh! Plus, we've all been fighting off head colds! boo!

Our last two days in Austin were fun & we miss Toto & Tia greatly! Every day since C has asked if we are going to go to their house! so cute!

Lucky for C, there was a construction site near Toto's house! So Toto & daddy took him to see it! He has talked about that site nonstop for days now!!!

On our last day there we went to the hula hut on lake Austin for lunch. It was a crazy fusion of mexican food meets hawaii.  It was delicious! We had grilled chicken sandwiches with grilled poblano chiles, pineapple, bacon & monterey jack cheese! In the words of Rachel Ray...it was YUM-O! hahaha!

Our trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at a near by windmill. It just looks rustic & well, Texasish!

The night before we left, C helped Tia make blueberry muffins for us to eat during our crack of dawn travels back home!

Toto & Tia, we miss you guys sooo much! It was so much fun visiting!

We're back...

& exhausted!

sno-cones & the oasis

Wednesday my parents & grandparents left for Bristol, Tennessee to watch the nascar race this weekend. RJ, the kids & I are staying until Saturday morning. So after everyone left we were sitting out back when we heard some tropical music playing loudly. Low 'n behold it was the ice cream truck perusing the neighborhood! The truck was decorated all tropical like & was selling "kona ice" a.k.a sno-cones! C had never had one before! So Toto (my uncle Rob) took him out there to get one! The ice cream truck that comes around our neighborhood plays that annoying old classic ice cream truck music and it drives me bonkers! So the tropical music was much better!

Toto getting K to laugh

waiting to get a kona ice
not sure what to make of it at first!
Then on Thursday, Toto, RJ, the kids & I all went down to this restaurant called The Oasis for lunch. It sits right on Lake Travis. The view is amazing! I guess it's the largest restaurant in the US with a seating capacity to 3,000!!!!

there are numerous decks that can seat people! all with a view

shopping!

Tuesday we went shopping at the hugest outlet mall ever! There were over 300 stores spanning across two outlet malls! That's a ton of shopping!! Saks Off 5th, Crate & Barrel, Gucci, J. Crew, Kenneth Cole, Neiman Marcus, Potterybarn, PB Kids & Willias-Sonoma were just to name a few! It just went on and on forever!

Neiman Marcus

The Potterybarn was the size of a Costco! It was enormous! It was filled with all kinds of goodies from PB Kids, Williams-Sonoma, & West Elm. Too bad we don't have one of these in our neck of the woods or I had a larger suitcase! haha! Carolyn, I saw those cute lil sock animals

The mall was built in a Vegas Italianish sytle complete with gondola rides! I guess to cool off from the blazin' hot Texan sun!

C cooled off with an ice cream cone!
The car ride back was spent snoozing after a long day of shopping!

bats!

Monday night we headed downtown Austin to watch over a million of bats fly out from under the Congress Ave. bridge.
Tons of people flock to the bridge or the small park down below to watch this spectacle. As the sun sets hundreds upon hundreds fly out! RJ, my dad, & Robert (my uncle) all watched from the bridge with the cameras (they said it was super stinky up there!)  while Nana, Steve, C, K, my mom & I all watched from the park. It was hard to see them once it got dark because there was cloud cover but you could still see somewhat of the huge cloud of bats! It neat. Too bad I didn't bring my mascara tube to get a refill of some bat guano! hahaha!!!!

we are in Longhorn country...
coloring on his menu
The food was pretty good. Of course since they say that everything is bigger in Texas, here's my gallon sweet tea! good lord!

Here's RJ eating ribs with a fork! The Texans would be ashamed! hahaha!
I thought this old door was pretty cool looking

swimming & a birthday

There is a community pool in my aunt & uncle's neighborhood. Since its like a billion degrees here we walked up for a swim! It took C a minute to get warmed up to it but then he loved splashing around! K just lounged !

There was some buckets that would fill up and then dump water down & C thought that was pretty cool. He'd shout "Oh big huge waterfall!!!" when they would dump!

cute lil babe!

Papi & K

Then Saturday night was my uncle's big 5-0! We went to Carlos 'N Charlies for dinner. The restaurant sits right on Lake Travis. We had a good time celebrating the old man! ;)

HOT!

Well, we made it to Austin safely! The flights down were fine. The first one was great. C did great! He sat in his carseat in between RJ & I. We sang the Little Einstein's song during take off. Luckily the first flight was slightly over an hour so we were good! The second flight however, was a different story! We sat on the tarmac with no air because the AC was broken! So they had to get a new one & so we were sitting in the middle of the freaking Utah desert in a metal bird with NO AIR! Every one on the plane was silent & then C yells, "LET'S GO!!!! I'M HOT!!!!!!!"

The whole plane erupted in laughter! He said what everyone else wanted to say!!!! hahaha! He fell asleep for the first part of the 2 hour flight & woke up in the middle of some turblence. He was soooooo cranky! He goes, "I'm done. I want to go outside!" ummmm....you can't go outside up here!!!

We are having a good time here visiting family! Yesterday was my uncle's 50th birthday! So I'll post more soon!
