The road to Hana
Ok, so I got yelled at by the hubby for being a blog slacker! he says that i will lose my blog readers if i don't post! whatever! you do some blogging, rj! haha! ;) so please post some comment love. i'd feel so loved! ;)
anyways....on one of the days during our vaca, my parents watched the kids while rj & i rented a car (a convertible!) & drove the road to Hana! it was fantastic! the road is super curvy, but no worse than the old scenic hwy in the Gorge (ok, so maybe a few hundred or so more curves!) the views are breathtaking!
enjoy!
crusin'

sugar corns! (actually its sugar cane but C called them sugar corns! haha! so i took this photo for him)

this church was so cool & was surrounded by swaying palm trees. it was built in the 1840s or something!

one of the waterfalls we saw!

1 of 2 black sand beaches (this one is less known about)

keanae peninsula. this is also less known about. but this town is like stepping back in time. so little & quaint. the BEST banana bread is located here too!

this church was built in 1850something (i think) and was built out of coral that divers drudged up from the ocean, until a freak storm washed up enough coral to finish it!

the black sand beach!

there was a photo shoot going on down on the rocks. we stopped and watched for a bit. then we figured out it was India Aire (singer)

some paparazzi! check out that lens!

In Hana we missed my great, great grandmother's store (Tutu's) so I didn't get to take a photo of it w/ me standing in front & we unfortunately did not get to see the red sand beach or the 7 sacred pools because the road was closed a little ways passed Hana! Oh well, we'll have to go back!
it was a great day (& a very long day!) & i am so thankful that my parents watched the kids (they went to the aquarium & saw big sharks!) for the day so the hubs & i could have a day to ourselves!

Napili
Well, hello blog world, its been awhile! I've been in super slacker mode lately! Physically my body is present but I think mentally I am still back in Maui! haha! I haven't even unpacked my bag yet! Ok well, technically its unpacked but there is a huge pile next to my bag. I think my stuff is hoping just maybe that it could be quickly packed again and take off back to the islands! :)
Ok so back to posting about our trip! Here are some photos from our day at Napili Bay. It's a lovely bay with rocks flanking either side of the bay. Which C loved! The waves would splash up and create little waterfalls as the water rushed back towards the ocean. He splashed for several hours in the little tide pools & refused to leave!

C mesmerized by the waves!

hey mom c'mon!

kapalua bay
Our first full day on the island (i feel like i am making a LOST reference here..haha) we woke up to a gorgeous sunrise (thanks to the kids waking up super early, still on mainland time) then walked down to get some yummy kona coffee & some pineapple bagels with passion fruit cream cheese. mmmm. yum.
Then we headed up towards Kapalua Bay. I love this beach. Its so pretty (what beach isn't there?!) Carter couldn't wait to plop down and dig in the sand. The instant his feet touched the sand, he was down & digging away! Kennedy, however, didn't care for the sand so much! We had a great day playing in the sand, & splashing in the ocean! The kids were pooped by the time we got back to the condo! makes for great naps! :)
the view from our balcony. heaven.

enjoying some breakfast

so wiped out that he didn't even notice his sister poking at his face! haha!

the perfect ending to a perfect day

leaving on a jet plane....
...to Maui!
There was much excitement in the air when we woke up that morning to head to Maui! Carter was excited but he was most concerned with if I had remembered to pack his shovels! On the way to the airport C asked, "did you pack my shovels mom?"
"yes Carter I got them."
C, "did you pack my buckets too?!"
"yes, of course"
whew. we couldn't forget those!
The flight was great. It was a smooth ride all the way there & the kids did fantastic! The 5.5 hrs seemed to go by quickly (thank goodness!) Except for the fact that every two minutes C asked this, " are we at Hawaii yet?"
"not yet, we still have 5 hrs to go..."
{2 minutes pass by}
C, "are we at Hawaii yet, momma?"
"not yet...."
{& repeat that for the next 5 hours!}
occupying his time with his diggers!

of course he fell asleep with 10 minutes left of the flight! The pilot came on & said prepare for landing & we look over & C's ASLEEP!
