Project 365.

I came across this article today about taking a photo every single day to capture a whole year of your life. So that you can look back on the little snapshots and sum up an entire year. I thought that was a pretty cool idea. It'll help me to think outside of the box when it comes to my photography. I know, how hard would it be to take a single photo every day?! My problem is that it'll be hard to just choose one
I will be blogging (of course!) my photo-a-day project over on my photog blog! So please, follow along with me on this little snap-shot journey! Yes, that means you'll have to check another blog!
Here's a tip, if you don't so already.....log yourself in to Google Reader & add subscriptions to the blogs and they will update when I update them!
See, you have no excuse now......
I also encourage you to join me in this project too! It'll be fun!

big guns.

Carter says the funniest things. He is constantly saying something that cracks us up.  Some how he learned how to "flex" his muscles and say "big guns!" haha!
So the other day he goes, "look at my sunglasses mommy!"
Me: "oh my Carter. Let me take your picture with them on."
C: "yah! see my big guns!"
HAHAHAHA!!!!

Other things he says:

-"oh my gosh, oh my GOSH!" = when he sees something very interesting.
-"here comes Carter!" = when he is running around
-"what is this kind?" = when he wants to know what something is
-"i need a moochie please" = when he needs a smoochie
-"i need chocolate milk" = when he NEEDS chocolate milk (says this while batting his eye lashes)
-"i want mommy say, you go outside" = when daddy says he can't go outside & wants mommy to say that he can!
-"i just doing works now, ok" = when he is doing works...duh! haha!
-"i get back to work now" = when he is going back to finish his works!
-"SEE!!!!!" = like when he falls, knocks something over or when he's doing something he's not supposed to be doing..copying mommy saying "see carter i told you not to _____"

oh I know there are many more! He's such a funny lil guy!

two sissys.

Carter says he has two sissys! Kennedy & his baby. He such a lil Mr. Mom with his baby. It cracks me up. If Kennedy is laying on the floor he'll take his baby and lay her next to K and say, "here you go baby. lay on the floor now." Or he'll put his baby in K's bouncy seat or bumbo chair! He will also burp his baby & make her go night & sing her a lullaby!!! He even once tried to nurse his baby!!! hahaha!!!! I am sure he'll love it when I tell that story when he is about oh 16!!!! =)

"two sissys lay on the floor"

"my baby sits here"
"here you go baby"

anniversary part 2

After our hike, we got all gussied up and headed down town for dinner at Fenouil. A little french restaurant in the Pearl District. We've always wanted to try this place. We love French cuisine so I thought this would be perfect to round out our wonderful day!

They brought out this teeny tiny morsel of a starter! ummmm, yah....it's tiny! hello french cuisine! haha! but it was sooo yummy!

Our table full of delish food & wine!

For dinner RJ ordered the special of the day, Grouper. It was tasty!

& pommes frites

I ordered the grilled kobe sirloin, asparagus, & blue cheese potato gratin. YUM!

Our desserts were so delicious!
RJ had les trois profiteroles = 3 lil hazelnut pastries filled with ice cream & chocolate sauce to drizzle over them!

I had the glaces maison = 2 ice creams du jour with one cookie! the cookie melted in my mouth is was so decadent!
Our dinner was delightful, it was a perfect end to fill our bellies with loads of calories after our 4.6mil hike earlier!!!

anniversary part 1

{friday july 18}

This year it was my turn to plan our anniversary! So that morning RJ woke up with a clue on his bedside table leading him to our first activity for the day. It read this: (I forgot to take a pic of it! oops)

Up to the place where it all began,

Where you got down on one knee & asked for my hand.

Overlooking a view that spans from the East to the West,

Where the angels lay their heads to rest.

Guessed it? The people of the NW should get this one....Angel's Rest hiking trail! I thought it would be fun to go to the spot where RJ proposed & have a picnic lunch! So we packed up the kiddos, dropped them off with Lola & a hiking we went!

2.3mil uphill! UGH!!! haha!

So we are hiking along & we come to this really pretty creek that cascades over some rocks. RJ went around one side of a tree to get closer to take a photo & I go on the other side. And just has I am about to step down something black catches the corner of my eye & IT MOVES........I shriek "OH ####!"
Why hello Mr. snake!!!! This thing was HUGE! A big black snack w/ 2 yellow stripes down it. (I swear it ate hikers for dinner but RJ says that I am just exaggerating a bit!) I stumbled backwards as fast as I possibly could meanwhile hurdling over a huge boulder and just about took a tumble off the side of the trail! good times! My heart was pounding. As if you couldn't tell by now, I am terrified of the lil buggers! So for the remainder of the hike, RJ went in front to scare of any other encounters! (& we did encounter another! cripes!)

This trail is so beautiful (minus the snakes!). Lush green trees surround you & little lookout areas peak out over the Gorge. It's absolutely breath taking.

Some dorky hikers we met along the trail! haha!!

Almost at the top! no more lush trees but huge rocks shaped by the infamous East wind.

We came to this clearing & decided it would be a fantastic spot for our picnic. By this time I was STARVING!!!
Another perfect time to give the hubby his 2nd clue...

Stroll along the streets of the Pearl,

Hand in hand with your favorite girl.

Stopping to wine & dine at a little brasserie,

Where the fennel is the inspiration for the cuisine.

To celebrate the 5 years as husband & wife,

Cheers to our wonderful, love-filled life!

Our lil table top!
The view...amazing

While eating our lunch some other hikers (who didn't look like they were NWer's) stopped to ask us if that indeed was the "angel's rest" where we were at. Nope I replied. The top is not too far....keep going.....out of breath, they hung their heads & kept trudging forward! haha!
But it's so worth it!!! It's simply amazing up there!

God's beautiful creation...

We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area as this. We had a wonderful time hiking (even though my legs are a tad sore!!) & spending time in the wonderful outdoors, reliving the moment where our lives together began....

i got my hammer.

Carter has been so busy doing lots of "works" w/ Papi! My dad is building a huge shop & doing a lot of the work himself so that meant that Carter needed to do works too! He even got his very own hammer, tape measure & tool belt!!!

In the words of my very own lil handyman, "i get back to work now. ok."

waterfalls.

Today the kids, Nana & I decided it'd be fun to drive down to see the "hooge" waterfalls! I've been wanting to take C down along the Gorge so he could see all the different waterfalls but just haven't made it yet. So I thought today would be a perfect day to do so.

We took the scenic drive along the Gorge and ended at Multnomah Falls! Our first stop was Wahkeena Falls because it was easy to see right off the road without having to hike a bunch in to it! C was scared at first. But then once he realized that it was a giant waterfall he got excited! He said, "the waterfall won't get you" hahaha!!! Then he goes, "see Mommy, that waterfall there!" I knew he would love it!

Then we headed to Multnomah Falls. The whole drive there C was saying "see another waterfall mommy?"
"Yes Carter, we will see another waterfall".
Once we got there he exclaimed, "a baby waterfall!!!"
"Um, No that's not a baby waterfall Carter...."
"Yah, it's a Big HOOGE one right there!"

"see the waterfall? big hooge one right there! "

I am sure Carter will talking about the "big hooge one" for days now! =)
